Why Health and Hygiene

The Nav Astitwa Foundation (NAF) believes that working on Health and Hygiene is a crucial aspect of its mission. Good health and hygiene are fundamental to overall well-being, and without them, it becomes challenging to lead a productive and fulfilling life. NAF understands that many communities in India, especially women and children, are often unable to access basic health and hygiene facilities, leading to a range of health issues and perpetuating the cycle of poverty. Through its programs and initiatives, NAF aims to improve the health and hygiene conditions of these communities, providing them with access to essential resources, information, and services. By working on health and hygiene, NAF is not only addressing immediate health needs but also working towards creating a sustainable and equitable future for these communities.

WHAT WE DO

We are working to provide better health and hygiene to the underprivileged women and children in the society. Our focus is to impart awareness and provide access to basic sanitation facilities to those who are unable to afford it. As a part of our Health and Hygiene program, NAF has implemented the Menstrual Hygiene Management (MHM) program under the campaign "Swachh Betiyan Swachh Samaj". NAF has started the first sanitary pad bank in Bihar and runs several pad banks for underprivileged women and girls throughout Bihar. They conduct counseling sessions and PPT module programs at government and non-government institutes to spread awareness about MHM. NAF has also installed sanitary pad vending machines at various public places like Patna Airport, Railway station, Petrol Pump, and Educational Institutions to provide easy access to sanitary pads and regularly monitors and maintains them. NAF also undertakes various other programs like Basic literacy program for women and children, Plant marathon, and wellness camps for eye checkups and cataract operations for the poor and needy. Through our Hunger Project "Sai ki Rasoi", We provide a complete nutritious meal to the needy patients and their attendants at Patna Medical College Hospital at a nominal cost of just Rs. 5/- to maintain the self-respect of an individual.
